What We Do

We turn old, forgotten pieces of material into something new and beautiful again.

Everyone finds themselves with certain things they have collected over the years but when it comes time to clear out closets and downsize the “junk” there are just some things you can’t seem to part with. Maybe it was a jacket from your Dad, or a kilt passed down by your grandma. Maybe it was part of an outfit you wore in your teens but just can’t bring yourself to toss it.

With The Last Hurrah, you don’t HAVE to part with these pieces that you hold dear to your heart…you can turn them into something beautiful and give them a second chance. Have your grandma’s kilt made into a clutch purse (or even get one for all the ladies in the family). Turn your Dad’s jacket into a stunning handbag that you can carry every day. There are endless possibilities for those items just hanging in the closet.

Have you ever been thrift store shopping and come across something you just loved, but sadly the size and fit weren’t for you? We’ll turn it into something amazing. Sentimental or not, every piece of clothing deserves their “last hurrah”.

Hey! I’m Patricia, the owner and creator of THE LAST HURRAH!

All about my pandemic pivot project!

When the pandemic began, armed with ideas from Pinterest, I went to my sewing machine and sewed some masks. Thrilled to be using up materials, I created some more. I had forgotten how rewarding it was to sew and make something new. Determined to finish up all the fabric I had on hand, I looked at some canvas strips I had left from some of my large paintings, some leather scraps and random pieces of fabric.

What could I make? There was two criteria: 1. It had to be useful

2. It had to use up some materials that might have just ended up in a landfill.

Using the tartan plaid from a family heirloom kilt and the leather from a recycled coat to make a clutch purse was the turning point. I amazed myself! Now I make tote bags with room for almost everything, clutch purses, crossbody bags and shaving dopp kits for men. Each bag is unique, with the size and style depending on the materials I am using. Each bag is lined and I try to incorporate extra pockets where I can. There’s been a steep learning curve with learning how to sew with leather, canvas, and finding which fabric makes the best lining and much more. Some days I am one with the stitch ripper but overall, there’s great progress. Each bag is coming back for its last performance.
